Ons Karoo Plaas

Ons Karoo Plaas is located on a small working farm in a tranquil Karoo valley, just off the R323 between Laingsburg and Seweweeksport, and is the ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city and town life. The silence of this tranquil valley is something very special and very rarely vehicles pass by, normally explorers of the Rouxpos Route or neighboring farmers.

The location is ideal for drives out to Seweweeksport, Calitzdorp, Ladismith, Anysberg, Laingsburg, Bosluiskloof and so much more. This area has a lot of history from the Anglo Boer War, and in Laingsburg you’ll find the Flood Museum from the 1981 flood.

Ons Karoo Plaas offers self-catering glamping accommodation as well as a backpackers room and camping. Our philosophy on the farm is to reuse, recycle and repurpose so you will find the ablutions, accommodation and residents areas are unique and characterful, and filled with antiques.

Accommodation is offered in 5 Glamping Units, each individually furnished, which are 4 caravans or 1 tent, with added on kitchen and living areas. Each Glamping Unit has its own garden area and outside braai facility.

The Backpackers room features 4 single beds each with fresh linen and towels. The unit makes use of the central ablutions block that is fitted with showers and toilets. The showers make use of a gas geysers for hot water. The room also has a small camping stove with kettle.

The 7 large Campsites each offer a grassed section, and shade netting over part of the site to create a cooler outdoor area for the summer months.

There are clean separate mens and ladies ablution facilities, both with toilets, showers and washbasins, and gas high pressure geysers.

Guests will have use of a Residents Lounge which has a small shop with basic supplies in case you forget them. Cold drinks, ice, wood, fire lighters, farm fresh bread to order, braai packs, homemade salads to order and more are available. There is a pool table for those that wish to play, and a wood burning fire for those crisp Karoo winter evenings. There is also a lovely farm dam-type swimming pool to cool down on those hot days.

Day visitors/campers are not allowed at Ons Karoo Plaas, keeping all of our facilities for the use and enjoyment of our resident guests only.
