Wild Ocean Fishing Charters
WILD OCEAN FISHING CHARTERS is an owner operated charter business operating out of the beautiful picturesque town of Hout Bay, Cape Town. Our aim is to make your fishing charter experience one that is fun, memorable and safe. You, our clients always come first and we will do whatever it takes to put you on the fish. Your skipper is also the owner and has 17 years experience tuna fishing in Cape waters.
Using smaller boats has it’s advantages in that it’s more affordable for smaller groups. We take less people on a charter therefore increasing your chances of hooking and landing your own fish. With less people it also gives us the opportunity to give you 100% of our attention. Our boats are surveyed annually by the South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) and our skipper has all the necessary courses and licences which make us 100% compliant. This includes day / night skippers ticket, fire fighting, first aid, pre sea familiarisation and radio operators ticket.
Our tuna boat “CANYON MAN” is a legendry Butt Cat built by Nauti-Tech, which has an incredible track record and is one of the top sea going boats in South Africa.
We offer you an affordable option to get out there to catch your dream fish. We will teach you as much as possible and explain as we go long along so next time you will have a better understanding of what to do and why we do it.
ABOUT US
WILD OCEAN FISHING CHARTERS is owned and skippered by Bruce Bakker. At 43 years of age Bruce has extensive knowledge in both offshore and inshore angling and boating. He has also been surfing since the age of 11 and has his PADI advanced diving certificate. His father was an avid angler and boater.
His knowledge and passion for fishing and the ocean has been passed down to Bruce over the years. After being given his first fishing rod at the age of 4, Bruce was instantly hooked and his passion and love for the sport and the ocean only strengthened over the years.
Fishing on his fathers’ boats and crewing on many others, Bruce also worked on a commercial tuna boat gaining valuable knowledge and experience. Since then he has owned his own boats targeting tuna and yellowtail around Cape Town. He also joined the biggest tuna and swordfish fishing company in South Africa where he learned to grade tuna and swordfish for the export market. This also enabled Bruce to learn more about how to improve the quality of tuna from time of capture to time of export.
